For home services and trades

You cannot answer the phone with your arm inside a water heater.

Someone with water coming through a ceiling does not wait, does not leave a voicemail and does not call back. They call the next number on the list. That call was worth a day's work and you will never know it happened.

from $1,000 to build. Telephony and compute at cost, on your own accounts.

The calls you are losing

These are the ones that do not call back

  • The 2am burst pipe, which is the highest margin call you will get all month
  • The three calls that came in while you were under a sink with your phone in the truck
  • The estimate you sent six weeks ago that nobody has followed up

You are under a sink, on a roof or driving between jobs for most of the working day, which is precisely when the phone rings.

Out of hours is where the premium work is, and it is the shift nobody wants to sit next to a phone for.

The jobs you do not want still take fifteen minutes to talk your way out of, and they always arrive at the worst moment.

What it handles

Scripted for home services and trades

  • Answers on the first ring at two in the morning, takes the address, the fault and the access details, then books it or pages the on-call technician by your rules
  • Qualifies before it books: in your area, a job type you take, an emergency or a Tuesday
  • Drops the job into your field service software with the notes a technician needs before they get in the truck
  • Gives your call-out charge and your rate in your own words, so price shoppers self-select before they take a slot
  • Calls back every estimate you sent and never heard about, which is the pile of money most trades never work

Where it stops

It never quotes a repair price it has not been given and never promises a time you have not agreed. If it is out of scope, it pages the person you nominate and stays with the caller until someone picks up.

A call, start to finish

What the caller hears, and what you get afterwards

Tuesday, 2:07am. Water is coming through a kitchen ceiling.

  1. AgentBell Plumbing, this is the automated line and I can get an engineer to you. Are you able to tell me what is happening?
  2. CallerThere is water pouring through the kitchen ceiling.
  3. AgentLet us stop it first. Do you know where your main shutoff is, usually near the meter or where the supply enters?
  4. CallerFound it. It is off.
  5. AgentGood, that buys us time. Can I take the address and a number to call back on?
  6. Caller42 Prescott Avenue, and this number is fine.
  7. AgentThank you. Our after hours call-out is $180 plus parts and I am paging the on-call engineer now. Stay on the line and I will keep you company until they pick up.

What the business gets

Water stopped before anyone arrived, address and access taken, the call-out rate stated up front so there is no argument at the door, and the job in the scheduling system before the technician is in the truck.

Sample script on a fictional business. Yours is written around your own calls.

Self-hosted

Your customer list is the business. Keep hold of it.

Every address you have attended, every system you have serviced and every price you have quoted is the asset a trade business actually sells when it sells. A hosted answering service holds that list on someone else's server, next to the list belonging to the company two towns over.

Self-hosted means the recordings, the transcripts and the customer records live on your infrastructure. If we stopped trading tomorrow, none of it would be locked inside anybody's account.

  • Customer names and addresses stay on your systems
  • Call recordings stay yours, and they are useful evidence when a job is disputed
  • No vendor holding your call history hostage at renewal
  • Export or delete anything, because it is already yours
  • Your call volume is not visible to a platform that also serves your competitors

Recording consent rules differ by state, and we set the announcement and the retention to yours. Where you take card payments the agent stays out of card data completely.

Where a system has a usable API we connect to it. Where it does not, we tell you that before you commit rather than after. How we build them.

Outbound, once inbound is settled

The calls nobody gets around to making

  • Estimate follow-up on a schedule you set
  • Annual service and maintenance plan reminders
  • Reactivation calls to customers you have not seen in two years

Outbound calling is regulated in most places. We build the consent rules and the calling windows to your jurisdiction before it dials anyone.

Questions from home services and trades

I am a one-truck operation. Is this overkill?

One truck is where it pays hardest. You are the technician and the office at once, so every call that rings out while you are working is a job lost with nobody to catch it. It is also the difference between advertising 24 hours and actually being reachable at 24 hours.

Will it book jobs I cannot do?

Not if it is set up properly. It checks the area, the job type and the timing before it offers a slot. Anything outside those rules reaches you as a message, not as a booking.

Does it work with ServiceTitan or Jobber?

Yes, through their APIs, and the job arrives with the notes your technician needs. We have already built this kind of connection into a client platform that talks to Housecall Pro and HubSpot.

What does self-hosted mean in practice?

The agent runs on infrastructure you control, which for most businesses is a cloud account in your own name rather than a server in your building. The call audio, the transcripts and the customer details sit on your systems rather than on a platform vendor's, so you can audit where everything is and delete it yourself.

What does it cost?

from $1,000 to build and deploy. That is the build: scripting, integration, deployment and testing on your infrastructure. After that you pay your telephony and compute providers directly on your own accounts, so there is no per-minute margin sitting between you and your own phone line. We show you what a month costs at your call volume before you commit.

Will it replace our receptionist?

That is not usually what happens or what we would suggest. It runs as overflow, taking the calls that would otherwise ring out: after hours, during the rush, and when everyone is already on the phone. The people who answer today keep answering, with fewer interruptions and a shorter callback list.

Not quite your line of work?

The build is the same. The scripts and the rules about what it must never say are not.

Stop losing the call to whoever answers first

It runs beside your existing phone system first, so nothing changes for the callers you already reach. You switch more of the line over when the transcripts convince you.
